What's this blog for?
I have recently taken up a new hobby of Patchwork Quilting and am also starting to slowly delve into paper crafts too, and this blog is where I am going to document my journey down the crafting roads. I know nothing on the subject, so this blog will provide a fresh perspective from someone just starting out in the field - a place for initial reactions and 'first times' within the textile and paper crafting world.
So, this blog is for...me! And anyone that wants to come along with my journey too - beginners looking for guidance, experts who can lend some advice and anyone in between. I'm all-ears for ANY tips and tricks that can be offered. Like I said, I am still learning!
What sparked your interest?
A few weeks ago I was in my local Hobbycraft when I noticed a huge table full of pre-packed fabric ('Fat Quarters') and I was intrigued. The fabric was beautiful, and there were packs and packs of coordinating patterns and colours. I had absolutely no idea what it was for though - I honestly commented 'Are these tea towels?!' - so I left them. That evening I decided to research them and discovered that they were just packs of pre-cut fabric that you could use in textile projects, specifically Quilt making. From here I delved deeper into research, before then deciding that I wanted to create my own quilt.
Regarding Paper Crafts; that's a venture my Mum & I are undertaking. Specifically card making. To start off, this may seem like its taking a back seat, but it's something that I am looking into beginning once I have finished my 2nd year of University (around June). For now I'm doodling, sketching and doing the odd spot of prototyping too, just to get a feel for it.
So...
That's it!
If you've read this far - thank you! I'd love it for you to come along on this journey with me. Leave a comment and tell me about yourself too - what are you interested in? I'm really looking forward to blogging about my journey and meeting some like-minded people along the way!
